Crafts with Grandma Packer

December 19, 2010Daniel and Sophia are always ready for a craft. Grandma was prepared and brought one with her. They made cute reindeer with their hands and shoe prints.

Daniel was sure he could do it all by himself, but Sophia wanted some help!

Sophia eats this stuff up! She is a craft a minute kind of girl!

He needed a bit of help after all!

He loves to cut, he could do that all on his own.

Very happy little girl with her cute reindeer!
Somehow I didn't get a picture with the nose on. The kids had a great time with Grandma and doing crafts!

Coming Home - June 2, 2010

We got to get her dressed and bring her home. We had to go back to the agency to work on a few more details, but we got to bring her there. We got her dressed in her cute little dress and took a few pictures (we had a more lenient nurse before check-out who even took the picture for us!)
She looked so little in her big car seat.

The fun of adopting a baby on vacation is that you get to take her home to see all the cousins, not just our own kids. All the kids gathered around when we brought her in. They couldn't wait for their turn to hold Helena.

She was hungry by the time we got to the house so we had to feed her first before the kids got a turn to hold her. But Sterling had lots of helpers!

James got to be the first to hold her, as the oldest brother, the right was all his!
James loves Helena.

Daniel was next with two little mommies (Kate and Sophia) hovering around to make sure he was doing a good job!

Daniel loves to hold Helena. He is a really good helper.

Sophia has a sister at last!!!
She is a great helper, sometimes a little too helpful. She always wants to hold her or feed her or burp her, whatever Helena needs!

Pure JOY!

After each of my kids got a turn the cousins had a go at it. Joshua was up next.

I like this face.. 2 days old and she's ready to tell me something!

Kate was so good at holding Helena. She wasn't going to give her back.

1 little mommy holds the bottle while 1 little mommy holds the baby, it is called team work!
After plenty of attention from the kids it was time to introduce Helena to Grandma and Grandpa Packer.
Grandma held Helena the whole time we were there, I don't think Grandpa got a chance.
Grandma got to feed her and hug her and enjoy our 2 day old baby.

Welcome Home Helena

This is the Place State Park, May 29th

We started in the Indian Village. The morning was very cold and we enjoyed having our sweatshirts. The Utahan's were enjoying the new found warmth, but our little 'Hawaiian Family' was really cold.
The best part of these pictures in the Indian Village is the beautiful skyline with mountains and clouds. One more reason we love UTAH!

Chase and Ashley came with us to This is the Place State Park. Chase is so good with Daniel and Daniel LOVES Chase beyond compare. This picture is of Chase and Daniel sitting in the Indian Lounge chair. Daniel has mischief all over his face!

James and Daniel with Grandma and Grandpa Packer.

James petting a cute little rabbit. We just happened to be there on the right day, it was baby animal day. There were all kinds of baby things in the animal area. Baby rabbits, pigs, ducks, turtles, goats and more.

You will see, my kids LOVED the baby ducklings. We had to pry the kids away from the ducks.

Daniel loved holding the ducks, he was the first one to be brave enough to do it!

Ashley found this little cute black one.

Sophia wanted to hold them but I was a little worried about her squishing them. She loved to pet them and look at them.

James Loved the ducklings!

So CUTE!

Daniel was holding the duck for Sophia to pet, what a good brother!

Sophia was pretty determined that she needed to hold the duck. She looked a little sad that she couldn't hold it.

Yep.. still loves the duck!

Sophia loved to pet the big goats! She was very brave!

The blacksmith shop was so cool. We went in to see what they were making and to see how working with steel worked. This guy was so cool and was so good to answer all of our questions. He made a leaf out of steel and gave it to me! It was really cool and really amazing to watch him mold it from a square stake into a pretty intricate leaf. While we were in the Blacksmith shop the subject of scouting came up somehow. The cool blacksmith guy asked Chase how he was doing in his scouting. He made Chase promise him that he would get his Eagle Scout before he was 16 years old and in trade for his promise he gave Chase a gift; Flint and Steel. It was a really inspiring exchange, I know you can do it Chase!

Grandma and Grandpa
Brady showing the kids how to work the pioneer stilts.
James making the plow work, he is ready for his own garden!
Daniel was having a good time with the plow too!
Who knew that a few plows could be so fun!
Daniel liked raking with the all wood rake.
Grandpa showing the grand kids how to play the stick and wheel game. Grandpa was pretty good at it.
James did really well too.
Daniel got it after a few tries.. it was trickier than it looked!
We thought we would take a rest and wait for the last train of the night. It warmed up through the day and the kids were now hot, waiting in the shade.
Last train around the villages before heading out to eat.
It was a great day!

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for a great day!
