Sophia at the Temple

February 21, 2011
Laie, Hawaii Temple Grounds

The twirl factor of any dress is what makes it a great dress or not, this is a great dress!

She is such a little princess!

She is so easily pleased!
My mom and sisters went and picked out the girls dresses in Utah for me!
I love them!

James at the Temple

James
February 21, 2011
Laie, Hawaii Temple Grounds
He had already had a long day of pictures. He doesn't love having pictures taken of him and this was a bit much to ask for. We got some pictures of him, but nothing that I really loved! He is such a cute kid and a great kid (when he wants to be!).

How about this mom? Is this good enough?

He thinks it is very cool he has his own book in the bible!

If only he would have left his tie on.

Steph got him to play along for a minute.

He liked jumping and getting that on camera.
I think we will try again and see if we can get him to cooperate a bit more.
We wont have the amazing backdrop of the Temple, but maybe in a studio.

Helena's Blessing Dress

Helena's Blessing Pictures

She was blessed in December but Stephanie came out to take pictures of her.

Pineapples

February 20, 2011
We planted these pineapples almost a year ago and finally they are producing. They probably wont be ripe before we move in May/June but it is exciting that we finally did it. We got baby pineapples once before but then they rotted and didn't grow. Hopefully these ones will give us the show we were hoping for!

James took these pictures. He has become quite the photographer. He loves to take pictures of the birds and plants and things around our yard. He will take pictures as the pineapples grow for me to post on my blog. He loves when I post things he takes pictures of, I will try and be better and do it more often.

Helena 8 Months!

Helena is 8 Months old
(January 31, 2011)

She wears size 3 diapers, size 6-9 month clothes, and is 16 lbs.
She loves her bottle and baby rice, still not too excited about other baby foods yet.
Helena is only happy if she is on her tummy. She doesn't like to be on her back at all, not in the car seat, not changing diapers, not in the bath tub, nothing! She is happy as a clam on her tummy and ready to go!

She also thinks she is very funny! She is a very smiley baby, doesn't laugh or chatter much but a super fun baby!

She loved the puppy's eyes this month. The puppy is still huge compared to her but she is starting to like him more!

Helena can sit on her own...

And is very excited about it!

She loves books, isn't very good at letting us read them to her yet. She wants to turn the pages, or not turn the pages at her own will. She gets pretty mad if you turn the pages or try to control the book at any speed other than her own.

She loves getting into things that she isn't supposed to. She loves the cards with pictures of animals on them, it is a matching/reading game, but she loves to steal them from Daniel.

She can scoot around on her tummy. She does a strange Army crawl with the right leg pushing and the left arm pulling and not much help from the other limbs. It works for her! Laynie is a great baby. She is working with H-KISS for habilitation and getting better use of her limbs and things. She seems to like when they work with her.
I can't believe it has already been 8 months!

Pinewood Derby

January 29, 2011
James' first official Pinewood Derby Race
James loves Cub Scouts, but for some reason working on his car was like pulling teeth. He wasn't very interested in helping to build his car. Sterling let him choose the design and they went a little too technical for much help from James, but it turned out great! James did help with the sanding and the painting. It is hard to tell from this picture but his car is the 'Bat mobile'.
Brother Linder was in charge of the race. He had a very elaborate system so that each car got to race each car and every boy got his turn in each lane. It was pretty impressive. Our track is a very old wood track that someone painstakingly built about 50 years ago, but it did the trick. All the boys were very excited to race their cars.

During the Pinewood Derby we had a dad at the end of the track and he would call which ones came in in which order. Then it came to a tie. Daniel and Steven had to race and race and race to see which car would win. We didn't have a timer on our track so we just had to call it by a stop watch for the race-off. One track would win each time so it was hard to say who the real winner was, but it was easy to say James came in 3rd! James really got into the race and had a good time. I was glad to see he enjoyed the race, because he didn't really enjoy the work of building it. Maybe next year, knowing what fun it will be he will be a bit more excited to help build it!

James with his car and 3rd place ribbon and medal!

Daniel, on the other hand, loved helping with his car. Sterling did the majority of it but Daniel did the great paint job! He can't wait to be a Cub Scout and get to do all the fun things that his brother gets to do.

We had an 'out-law' race for those who aren't lucky enough to be in our pack but wanted to race. We had a few sisters of Cub Scouts build cars, a few dads, and Daniel!
We didn't get too serious with the out-law race and didn't declare a winner, but Daniel's car was pretty fast. He had a great time too!
