Fun Day with Steph and Glen

Steph and Glen came to Oahu for their 20th anniversary trip. They spent the first 5 days in Waikiki enjoying all there is to offer and each other and on their last 2 days they came to spend time with us!

Steph planned a very fun, full day of adventure. I wasn't sure my kids would be up to it all in one day but we were going to give it our best shot!

First we started out by hiking to Manoa Falls.

My monkeys in the tree branches!

James doesn't love to have his picture taken.. but we got a family picture.

Steph and Glen always look good!

Daniel owns this forest!

Glen wishes he could own the forest like Daniel!

James loves these plants.

The cool thing about this hike is the branches, roots, and other things to climb on.

James really likes to check out the plants and "name" them.

The very cool arch way made of vines.

Steph and Glen in the archway.

Sophia had the fun ride all the way to the top. Sterling was so good to carry her (it made the trip so much faster and easier to have her up high and out of the mud!)

Helping Daniel up the very tricky parts.

Ready, JUMP!

Sterling's turn.. but he didn't need my help!

A little mud on his face... but such a cute boy!

James doesn't like to be dirty. He got some mud on his hand and promptly wiped it on me!

Such a cute girl!

Steph had lots of fun taking picture of all the wild flowers and things.

The WATERFALL!

I only put this one in here because this is the first picture I have seen of Stephanie that we look alike. It is not a great picture of them, I am not nearly as good a photographer as Steph but I still like it.

Why is it that they always look like they are dancing?

Sterling and I at the waterfall.
(I am not pregnant, it is just bad hand placement)

Daniel ROCKS!

Sophia wanted her picture taken too!

King of the hill!

I know there are a lot of pictures of Daniel but he is such a cute kid!

Here we are on the way back down.

Down was twice as much fun as going up.
Daniel did his best to find every puddle on the way down.

Some of the spots were really slick and tricky to figure out how to maneuver.

Stephanie took this.. so pretty!

Very Curious!

Daniel had a little slip in the mud!

This was another "which way should we get down" moment!

Some places had little stairs built in.

Daniel liked the little stairs.

Each stair had a puddle, what could be better?
SPLASH!

Here he goes again!

Does mud get better than this?

Do you see the look on his face...
It doesn't take much to become a mind reader now does it?

Yep.. he slashed in it!

I wish I owned the world the same way Daniel thinks he owns the world!

And AGAIN!

The suspense is killing me!

Puddles gone wild!

Pure 4 year old boy joy!!!!

The adventure continues....

See the mud all over their legs, isn't that yummy!

She really wanted a turn to walk. She couldn't let the boys have all the fun!!!

All the trees had moss on them and Sophia liked petting the tree!

James and mom having a quiet moment.

James took this picture.
He really liked this mushroom/flower thing that was growing on the log.

Daniel, the outdoor king, found this stick and was sure it would be a good bow and arrow.

James really liked these plants. He called them the chameleon tails because of the curly swirly thing on each one.

"Chameleon Tails" up close.

At the end of the hike Daniel got some dirt and painted himself some very nice eye brows, just like the guys at Indian World (Polynesian Cultural Center).

Found some more mud!!!

Daniel had a whole story about the "beaver" that cut this big tree apart. It was a huge tree and Daniel wanted to show how far apart the two parts are.

Sophia thought it was a great adventure too!

After our great hike we went for another adventure. We went to Kailua Beach and rented some kayaks for about an hour. The kayak pictures are all on a waterproof disposable camera so those pictures will have to come after they are developed.

The kids had a great time at the beach. It takes them a while to want to be there but once they warm up, they really loved it. This is such a great beach too because the sand is so nice and their isn't any coral and rocks in the water, just nice, clean, beautiful sand.

Sophia did finally warm up and play in the water and the sand a bit more, but for the most part she doesn't like the sand.

Daniel on the other hand could stay at the beach and never get board...

Even when the waves win!

Glen and Sterling out on the body boards.

Such a beautiful day!

James found a very cool spot to hang.

Someone else had started digging a very deep whole. James was plenty happy to continue the search for... something!

The whole had a pretty big circumfrence.

Steph, on the left, taking pictures of Sterling and Glen with Daniel in the sand playing in the waves.

This is our pile of stuff.. what you don't see is Sophia actually wrapped up in the green and purple towel. She and I got completely plowed under by an unexpected wave and Sophia just wanted to get warm and hide from the wind.

Glen caught a good wave and rode it all the way in!
It was such a great day at the beach and such a fun time with Steph and Glen!!!

We had so much fun with them!

Phew! That does look like a fun day! Although what could be better than hiking in mud, splashing in mud, being covered in mud and than washing it all with some fun in the ocean! No wonder Daniel is always smiling, life is good!

Mud, sand, waves, mud...mud...mud. That looks like so MUCH FUN!!!! :) :) My kids would love to play in all of that mud (probably not the water so much, though. :( )!

That's it. We are moving to Hawaii!
