Zoo Camp - Feeding the Giraffes - July 2nd

Sterling got to come to the Zoo with Sophia, Helena, and I for Daniels class to feed the giraffes. Sterling had the day off of work for the 4th of July holiday.
The day was about the Giraffes but she is so cute.. I had to put this picture in there too!
Sophia looks so old to me! She is 2 (3 in September) and is such a great little girl. She has a song for everything. She was so fun at the zoo. She was our tour guide.

Daniel walking with his class to the Giraffe area. They were all such good little ducks to hold onto the rope and stay in line.

Lining all the kids up against the fence to give them their "giraffe food". Uncle Jason cut some branches from a bush to feed the giraffes. The kids thought it was great!

The kids holding their branches.

SO CUTE!

Daniel giving his leaves to the giraffe. They had to hold onto the branch super hard so the giraffe could eat the leaves but not the branch. Kalil was trying to help him hold onto the branch.

Daniel thought it was great.

Each leaf was like a new adventure for Daniel.. he loved feeding the giraffe.

He couldn't get enough of it!

When we lived in Colorado Springs we had a great zoo that had the largest herd of giraffes in captivity in the USA. You could buy some "crackers" to feed them, which was really cool. But it was fun to actually get to feed them leaves and see how long their tongues were again.

Hold on tight Daniel!

Paul's turn!

By the time all the kids had a turn I think the giraffe was tired of leaves.. he wasn't nearly as aggressive with the kids at the end.

Sophia and Sterling got a turn at the end.
Sophia wasn't so sure she wanted anything to do with the giraffe.

Sterling thought it was great!

When the kids were done feeding the giraffe they lined them back up against the fence. Daniel and Paul are pals and almost always together!

They were pretty tired by now. It was hot and they had done a lot of walking!

As we were walking around after we said goodbye to Daniel's class we came across James and his class.

He was having a good time. They didn't have nearly as many feeding experiences as the younger group did for some reason but he really had a great time learning about many of the animals at the zoo.

After Paul and Daniel were done with their class we had to wait around the zoo until James was done with his class. We let the kids play at the playground for a while. Daniel and Paul always have some great game to play together.

These were step bars to climb up and the kids made them into their own seating area. They were having such a great time together. Sophia thinks she is just as big as the boys are!
Zoo Camp was great!
