Sophia's One Year Pictures

We got Sophia's one year pictures back today. They didn't turn out to bad.. it is hard to take a bad picture of such a cute girl!

The little bunny is Sophia's she got it at the Hanai Bear, which is like Build a Bear. She loves her bunny. I thought it would be fun if they had their picture taken together.

New Excitement on the Island!

This morning while we were eating breakfast Sterling says, "CHECK THAT OUT!" In the reflection of our sliding glass door he could see the huge ball going between the houses. So we all went outside and walked to the corner where we have a straight shot view into the Harbor and we could see this Mammoth Thing. You can't call it a ship really, we don't think it can even move on it's own, it had a huge tug boat moving it. It was pretty amazing. While we were over by it tonight taking pictures the security guard told us we couldn't take pictures, after I had 50 already. My thinking is, if you can see it from the moon, it isn't too big of a secret that it is parked by my house! You can see it from just about all of Oahu!

Just kidding.. I had to put that on there!
I am a resident.. I have access! (well, kind of!)

Sterling and the kids in front of the "Monster Ball"

This is a huge ball that the Navy has. It is apparently a communications Satalite of some sort that just floats in the ocean, but has come for some repair work for a month or so. It is enormous!

That is it for underneath, just this platform, no ship front or anything.. It does have a huge ancor, but just a huge floating platform. Hopefully I haven't just breached National Securtiy, but it was pretty cool!

This is so you can see, the ship on the left is a regular Navy Ship, about the same size as the Missouri, the Monster Ball completly dwarfs it! You could stack two ships on top of each other and it still wouldn't be as big as the Ball.

And Last but not Least... For Steve.. There is the Utah, next to the Navy ship, next to the Monster Ball!

We love you all.. come and visit us!

Sophia's growth chart!

Yeah, It is done! This is the growth board that I decorated for Sophia. My sister Stephanie made a really cute one for both James and Daniel and so I was trying to make one for Sophia. I should have just had Stephanie do it. I have no doubt that she would have made it much more detailed and more cute than I did, but it is slowly growing on me. A big THANKS to Stephanie for sending my some cute rub on stickers and letters and paint, because craft stores in Hawaii really don't carry much of anything. There is no Michaels Crafts or JoAnns or anything like it here. If I was going to live here longer I would open up my own craft store or really pressure one of the big chains to come here! Sorry the pictures aren't that great but it is difficult to take a picture of a board that is 5 feet long and 6 inches wide.

Sophia's on the move!

Here is a video of Sophia trying to walk. In this video she is very tired but my little brothers asked for a video of Sophia doing anything.... so here it is!

We love you lots Blake, Colton, Ellie, and Gabe... and everyone else!

Diamond Head

Sterling and I had a really great date last night. He and I hiked up Diamond Head then went to Keo's after for Thai food. The hike was rated as "moderate". We were definantly breathing hard but it was well worth the steep hike and the several sets of stairs, the last set being 99 stairs.

There were basically 4 sides to view from the top, I didn't take pictures of all 4. In hind sight I wish that I had, maybe next time. This light house was really cool and the colors in the water were amazing!

This view was looking toward Cocoa Head. We haven't been there yet!

This is the view looking toward Waikiki and Downtown Honolulu.

It was breathtakingly beautiful!

There were several tunnels and cut out rock trails to climb through! At the top it was an old Army bunker. It was all pretty amazing!

We really had a great time!

We thought we would be exciting and go to a restraunt we hadn't ever been to before, well in Waikiki there were many to choose from. Sterling had never had Tai food and wanted to checkout Keo's. I had the "Evil Jungle Prince" = Chicken and cabbage in some kind of curry sauce, however the menu didn't say it was curry sauce. Sterling really liked it, but it was so hot I couldn't really eat much of it! Sterling had Bangkok Duck which was really tender and the sauce was really nice. For Desert I had a Brownie Sunday with Coconut Ice Cream - way yummy! and Sterling had Flan... which he loves but I think is disgusting. We really had a great date night and can't wait for next week!

Date night is great!

Snails on Crack!

This is by far the largest snail I have EVER seen!

The missionaries had come over to our house and as they came up to our front porch Elder Tipoki spotted this massive snail crossing the sidewalk. So we got all the kids and as we were gathering around he spotted another one in the plants. We have crazy plants that are pretty out of control but that we can't do anything with, so I guess it is fitting that they are home to some pretty monsterous snails!
I was trying to get the kids to put their feet by the snail so that I could show that the snail was as big as their feet, but they were all a little too frightened!

Snail Friends!
What will we find next in this crazy place!
