Just in Time!

Scratch, our Turtle, has just entered a fun stage. Okay, maybe not fun but interesting at least. Turtles shells do not grow with them, the plates fall off! Just in time Scratch has started molting his shell. I say just in time, because on June 15th he will be a member of another family. We can not take him to Hawaii with us, so we found another good home for him!




The large fish you see in his tank, started out as little feeder fish. For some reason Scratch stopped eating them and now they are too big for him to eat. They are a great blessing to his tank however. They help to keep it clean! It does have a filter on the tank to help, but the fish eat everything. They used to be afraid of the turtle, but not any more. We he gets food he has to be faster than the fish to get it. We feed them fish food as well, but it is always more fun to eat what someone else is supposed to have.
I was trying to take some pictures of the back of Scratch's shell, but he was far to interested in the camera to let me do that too well. You can see in the pictures where the green shapes are missing.. That was the point!
